ESSO PICTORIAL PLAN OF ROADS TO THE SOUTH COAST
A·E·TAYLOR·32
Colour printed map drawn by Alfred Edward Taylor (1887-1959) first issued in 1932 as promotional folding maps and then redrawn at a larger scale for sale as posters for Pratt's Motor Oil Company.
Following the rebranding of the company's fuel brand names to "Esso", reductions of the colour posters were re-issued in Pictorial Britain and Ireland...H.K. McCann Company Limited, London 1936.
Describing the maps, S.P.B. Mais writes, "I have seldom, if ever, seen a happier blending of the artist and wit in a cartographer. They are jolly, they are informative, they are original, and they have a magic enticing quality about them..."
Centrefold as issued. A minor spot at centre of left and right margins, otherwise in fine condition.
