William Home Lizars (1788-1859), painter, engraver, copperplate printer, mapmaker, draughtsman, lithographer and publisher was born in Edinburgh, son of engraver and publisher Daniel Lizars (1754-1812). His brothers were engraver, mapseller, bookseller, publisher and stationer, Daniel Lizars, the younger (1793-1875), Surgeon, anatomist and medical author John Lizars FRSE (1792-1860). His sister, Jane Home Lizars married the famous naturalist, Sir William Jardine.
A fine pair of maps in original hand colour.
