First published in The London Magazine by R Baldwin from 1750, with Gloucestershire appearing in the issue for October 1751. The maps were subsequently published in England Displayed by S Bladon etc., in 1769 and under various titles including Boswell's Antiquities by Alexander Hogg from 1786 to 1798.
Thomas Kitchin (1719-1784), one of the foremost engravers of his time, was apprenticed to Emanuel Bowen in 1732 and married his daughter, Sarah, at the end of his apprenticeship in 1739.
Clean example from a later publication by Alexander Hogg showing a little wear to the plate but in good later hand colour.
