Coloured lithographic print after a painting by Harrison William Weir (1824-1906) published in a Christmas supplement of Chatterbox magazine in 1889. Chatterbox was a weekly paper for older children founded in 1866 by John Erskine Clarke who edited the magazine until 1902. Publication continued until 1955. Issues were collected into hardcover annuals.
Harrison Weir was a British natural history artist born at Lewes, Susssex who is best known for his paintings of domestic cats, dogs and poultry.
Good condition.
