Marie Chamand (1781-1855), wife of Comte de Lavalette, French politician and Napoleonic general.
In 1815 she saved her husband from execution by changing clothes with him and enabling him to escape from prison during the second Bourbon restoration.
Stipple engraving, hand coloured.
