George William Finch-Hatton, 10th Earl of Winchilsea, 5th Earl of Nottingham (1791-1858).
English Politician famous for duelling with the Duke of Wellington, then Prime Minister over Catholic emancipation.
The Duke of Wellington fiired first and missed, the Earl of Winchilsea then fired his gun into the sky.
First state of the plate without title. Unsigned steel engraving printed on india paper pasted to rag. The plate is clean but the rag paper outside the plate area is a little grubby. Size given is for the plate area, the paper is 30x43cm overall.
