Robert Wilkinson (c.1752-1825) was a London based Map and print-seller, mapmaker and publisher. He took over the map business of John Bowles (1701-1779) after his death, re-issuing updating the Bowles stock of maps fro several years before the production of his own General Atlas. The work proved popular with many re-issues and editions until his death in 1825.

This fine early example is the second state of the plate, with little detail of Africa's interior, dated 1794 and including the tropics of Capricorn and Cancer. Original hand colour.
