Containing Copper engraved fold-out map of Hertfordshire by Robert Morden in the second state with compass rose, 77 pp. description of Hertfordshire paginated 965 to 1041, engraved distance tables copied from John Norden with arms of St Albans (incorrectly titled Hertfordshire) and Hertford.
No title page but paste-down title to front endpaper.Original half calf binding, spine in compartments, no label.
Bookplate of William Cowper of Hertingfordbury Park. William Cowper held the office of Clerk to the Parliaments (Chief Clerk of the House of Lords) from 1716 - 1740. Two of his namesakes were his uncle William Cowper (c.1665-1723), first Earl of Cowper and Lord Chancellor of Great Britain and his nephew William Cowper (1731-1800), the celebrated poet.
