Holditch Booksellers 11, Queen Street, Hull. xvi, & 192 pages, Map of East Yorkshire hand coloured, 9 plates of sectional diagrams all but one hand coloured, 14 lithographic plates of fossils. All the plates are drawn by Philips.
John Philips (1800-1874) was born on Christmas day, 1800 at Marden, Wiltshire. Both his parents died in in 1808 and he was supported by his uncle, William Smith the renowned geologist. 

Boards and paper title label worn and water stained, but binding firm and contents clean and undamaged.
Rare first edition with all the plates.
