NEWSILLS BURY.
Drawn on Stone from the Original Engravings by C.L. Tyler.
To Thomas Newland Esq.r
This Draught is humbly presented by J. Drapentier.
Pub.d by I.M. Mullinger Bps: Stortford. 1826.
Reduction of Drapentier's copper engraved view published in Sir Henry Chauncy's Historical Antiquities of Hertfordshire in 1700. This version was published in a two volume reprint published in 1826, the plates redrawn at a smaller scale on a limestone slab and printed using the newly invented lithographic process.
The plate shows the original manor house built in the late 17th century. The house burnt down in the second world war and a new house was built on the site.
Closed tear to right edge well away from the printed area. Hand coloured.
