UNCOMMON. DUNCAN EDITION.
Map of the County HERTFORDSHIRE; Divided into Hundreds Containing the District Divisions and other LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS effected by the REFORM BILL
Hoare & Reeves sc. 90 Hatton Gardn.
London Published by J Duncan. Paternoster Row.
William Ebden is known for his engraving work, particularly in association with Laurie & Whittle, but this is the only set of county maps he produced. The series were first issued as loose sheets sold separately by a succession of publishers between between 1824 and 1828. One atlas without title page is known but it lacks a title page and the Hertfordshire map. From 1833 the map titles were amended and electoral information added for publication in A new atlas of England and Wales; consisting of a set of large county maps…containing also the new district divisions…&c. agreeably to the provisions of the Reform Bill…London, James Duncan 1833., and A complete county atlas of England &Wales, containing forty-four superior maps...London, James Duncan 1835 to 1845.
This example, with revised title is from the Duncan edition published from 1833 to 1845.
Repair to bottom centrefold but still a good example of an uncommon map in full hand colour.
