PLAN | of the | TOWN and HARBOUR | of | BOULOGNE.
Engraved for the Geographical Dictionary.
Unsigned copper engraving probably by George Rollos who engraved most of the maps and plans published in A New Geographical Dictionary...by John Barrow...London, 1759-1760.
George Rollos (1731-1796), born in London, the son of Jacob Rollos, jeweller in St. Martin in the Fields. He was apprenticed to Thomas Kitchin (1719-1784) on 6th August 1747.
Thomas Kitchin moved to St Albans in 1768 and Rollos is recorded voting in the parliamentary election there in 1780 and witnessing Kitchin's will the same year. He was buried at St.Paul Hammersmith, 14th March 1796.
Very good clean map in neat hand colour.
