A note reads: "Since the survey of this road by our author, that part of it from Birmingham to Shrewsbury, passing through Dudley, Bridgenorth, Wenlock&c.as described in the plan in this page, is now wholly disused or laid aside, a much easier way having since been found both in respect of goodness and shortness; An account of which we have received from a gentleman who is well aquainted therewith vix.^t as soon as you pass Birmingham the new road breaks off on the left acutely, & passes through W. Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Boxnigal Casford, Shiffnall Priorslee, Oken-yate, Watling Street, Fen Bridge, Alcham, Enstry, & so to Shrewsbury."
