HERTFORD AND SAFFRON WALDEN
ORDNANCE SURVEY OF GREAT BRITAIN | Fifth Edition - BLACK - ENGAND & WALES, SHEET 96
First published by the Director General at the ORDNANCE SURVEY OFFICE, SOUTHAMPTON, 1935.
Folded in 8 sections but kept flat for some time and with little wear to folds. Nicks and creasing to top paper edge, but with generous margins all round, the printed area is unaffected.
The fifth edition was intended to replace the Popular Edition but only Southern England was published. Produced from photographic negatives, it was the first OS one-inch series to be based on the Transverse Mercator Projection rather than the Cassinin projection. Produced in full colour, relief, physical alone, and outline editions in three colours, this version is the outline version in black.
Includes: Welwyn, Stevenage, Hitchin, letchworth, baldock, Biggleswade, Royston, Buntingford, Hertford, Ware, Harlow, Bishops Stortford, Saffron Waldon, thaxted, Great Dunmow.
