Etching by John Kay c.1795 published in A Series of Original Portraits and Caricature Etchings by the late John Kay, miniature painter, Edinburgh; with Biographical Sketches and Illustrative Anecdotes…Hugh Paton, Carver & Gilder, Edinburgh. 1838.
The etching has the inscription removed from the bottom of the etching at publication but represents Miss Burns of Durham, described as a celebrated beauty who "came to Edinburgh about 1789...Her youth, beauty, and handsome figure, decked out in the highest style of fashion, attracted very general notice as she appeared on the 'Evening Promenades' and the fame of her charms having at ength brought her before the magistrates on a complaint at the instance of some of her neighbours."
