Copper engraving by Johannes Kip published in William Camden's Britannia from 1695.
Later hand colour.
Typeset text description of Stonehenge below and verso.
Text below the engraving begins: Our country-men reckon this among the wonders of the Nation. For it is unaccountable, how such stones should come here (seeing all that country wants ordinary stones for building;) and by what means they were raised. Of these thimgs I shall not attempt an exact account, but only lament, that the founders of this noble Monument cannot be trac'd out.
