WHO SAID "BEAVER"? By Henry Mayo Bateman (1887-1970) British cartoonist noted for his "The man who..." series of cartoons. In about 1922 a children's game of "Beaver" became a craze that swept the country. Points were scored for calling out "Beaver" when a bearded gentleman was spotted. Lithograph published in The Punch Almanac for 1922.
