OLD THEOBALDS PALACE
From an old engraving in the "Gentleman's Magazine", 1836.
Wood engraving published in Greater London...by Edward Walford. Cassell & Co. Ltd. London 1888. Attributed to Theobalds Palace in Hertfordshire but is almost certainly a depiction of Nonsuch Palace, a Tudor palace built by Henry VIII near Cheam in Surrey, copied from earlier engravings after a painting by Hendrick Dankerts. Other versions of this image have also been incorrectly attributed to Richmond Palace.
Hand coloured. A little browned.
