Pair of plates (56x43cm. & 45x48cm.) published in The Practical Mechanic and Engineer's Magazine for June 1845 showing the engines designed and built by Caird & Co., for paddle steamers Clyde, Tay, Tweed and Cheviot, all launched in 1841. The engine were side- lever engines with two cylinders of 74.5 inch diameter with a stroke of 90 inches, driving 30 foot paddle wheels at 15 rpm.
Folds as issued. Top edge repair to 2nd plate but generally very good - the slight browning at one of the folds on the first plate is very faint and not as noticeable as it appears on this image.
