Copper engraving first published in The Antiquities of England and Wales by Francis Grose... London. S.Hooper, in monthly parts between 1772 and 1776 without county maps.

The early issues lacked engraved titles and the engraved date in the margin often included an error with the number 6 engraved in mirror image. This Herford castle print also lacks the image of a man and his dog in the foreground.
