Hanbury Manor, near Ware, also known as Poles as titled on this lithograph, was first built in the 16th century and owned by Reginald Pole, son of Margaret Pole, 8th Countess of Salisbury. Sampson Hanbury bought the house about the year 1800. This lithograph shows the house while in the possession of Robert Hanbury (1798-1884). The house is now an Hotel and country club.
