Showing (whirling) Dervishers in the Temple of Pera flanked by four portraits with descriptive French text of a Mufti [Islamic Jurist], an Emir [High ranking official], an Imam [Religious leader], and a Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Henri Abraham Chatelain (1684-1743) was a Dutch cartographer who lived in Paris, London [c.1710], The Hague [c.1721] and Amsterdam [c.1728], and is best known for this publication, a huge seven volume work containing mainly geographical engravings and descriptions but including historical, genealogical and historical information.
