Reverend Francis Orpen Morris (1810-1893) was born near Cork in Ireland and moved to Worcester, England at the age of 14, settling in Charmouth, Dorset, in 1826. Educated at Bromsgrove School and Worcester College Oxford, he entered the Church and became curate at Hanging Heaton, near Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. He was author of many childrens books and books on natural history and heritage buildings. He died on 10th February 1893 and was buried at Nunburnholme, East Yorkshire.
