Designed by Thomas Telford and William Jessop and opened in 1805, the navigable aqueduct carries the Llangollen canal across the river Dee and was one of the first major feats of civil engineering undertaken by Telford under the supervision of Jessop. With 18 stone arches, the aqueduct is 307M long, 3.7M wide and 38M high and remains the longest aqueduct in Britain and the highest navigable aqueduct in the world.
