Fine quality steel engraving by John Le Keux (1783-1847). Born in Sun Street, Bishopsgate on 4th June 1783, the eldest son of Peter Le Keux, a pewterer of Hugenot descent and his wife Anne Dyer. First apprenticed to his father, for the last four years of his term, Le Keux changed to engraver, James Basire, to whom his brother Henry (1787-1868) was already apprenticed. He married Sophia Lingard in 1809 and was the father of John Henry Le Keux (1812-1896) who also became an engraver. 
Published in the first edition of Memorials of Cambridge by Charles Henry Cooper. London Macmillan & Co. 1841-1842.
