Colls (1860-1942) photographer and engraver, from a painting by John Guille Millais (1865-1931) for publication in a three volume work, Mammals of Great Britain and Ireland by J G Millais Longmans, Green & Co. London. 1904-6, a work notable for containing some of the first scientific studies of whales.
Millais was a British Artist and Naturalist who is noted for the precise detail of his illustrations. He was the fourth son of Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais.
