All listings under Owen & Bowen Road maps have been revised to include all the modern names of all places shown on each route.
Since the recording of place names on the maps by John Ogilby in 1675 and the Emanuel Bowen pocket version of 1720, many in print on a map for the first time, the names and spelling of the names may have changed. Also, interpretation of the verbal reporting of place names and engravers errors have contributed to the variations.
We have attempted to record all the places on and alongside the route in our listings using the modern spelling. This will help to locate the route taken and to find out if a town or village is shown on any of the maps by using the search button at the top of the page.
