Engraved by Henricus Hondius from maps and information gathered by Isaac Abrahamszoon Massa (1586-1643). Massa was a Dutch trader, traveller, diplomat and author. He published a number of maps of Russia based on his detailed notes and surveys made on his travels. His mapping of Siberia was particularly significant and was the basis for the maps of  Gerard Mercator, Jodocus Hondius, Jan Jansson and Jan Blaeu.
First published in 1633, this example was issued by J. Janssonius-Waesberge and Moses Pitt c.1680. 
Fine example in original hand colour on heavy paper, no tears or repairs.
