Collection of 18 handwritten mid 19th c. accounts books relating to William Parker at Ware Park, Hertfordshire:
EXPENSE ACCOUNTS for April to December 1843 totalling £1521.12s. 13/4 .d - a considerable sum for 1843. 31 pages, 6 blank. Loose insert page for March. 
PETTY LEDGER for 1847 8 pages, 24 blank.
LESSONS BOOK April 1865 to April 1878 (Piano lessons?)
POOR BOOK Nov 1862 to Aug 1865. 55 pages.
STABLES BOOK 1836. 16 pages 51 blank Loose bill from Parker's Rose & Crown Hotel Tunbridge Town February 18th 1840.
GAME BOOK 1859. 14 pages. 8 blank.
BUTTER BOOK 1845 19 pages.
ROBERT HALE (name on front of book) n.d. 6 pages (comprising only prices for Yeast, Toll (presumably road tolls) and names, Mrs Piggott, Nichols, Mrs Page. (?)
LINEN INVENTORY 1844. 20 pages.
BUTLERS BOOK 1867. 23 pages. List of expenses paid by Butler Joseph May (front cover). A note in Expense accounts book above, gives wages for Butler at 10s. and next entry as Joseph's footman at 5s., Joseph presumably being the Joseph May, Butler in this book. (Even in the mid 18th century a footman was employed only in the most wealthy households.)
LAUNDRY BOOK 1860. Front cover; W Parker Esqr 79 Marina and inside cover; 6 Eversfield Place W Parker Esqr and Mrs Brigden Laundress No 2 Cross Street. 26 pages. The expenses book show that Parker travelled to Brighton on several occasions (Entry for September 1843; Fares by Railway to Brighton £6 6s 6d., Luggage extra 4s 6d., Porterage of luggage to 43 Marine Parade 3s 6d.) There are Marine Parades in Brighton and Worthing but we can find only St Leonards on Sea as a location for Eversfield Place. Mrs Brigden, Laundress, may have lived in Cross Street, Ware but there is also a Cross Street close to Marine Parade in Brighton.
KEEPERS BOOK 1855. 80 pages Loose insert May 14th 1855 New Goods since Sept 1853 gives list of tack on 4 pages.
TOUR BOOK 1830. 14 pages of expenses on trips to France entered in French.
POULTRY BOOK 1863. 7 pages 32 blank.
BAKER BOOK 1860. Mr Parker 79 Marina 8 pages monies paid to Mr Beck, Baker. 
LAUNDRY BOOK July 1859 to April 1862 135 pages.
LAUNDRY BOOK n.d. 67 pages.
BRICK BOOK n.d. Book is empty except for interesting list of bricks supplied between June 8th and July 30th (unfortunately year not given) totalling 24,700 bricks. Parker is known for rebuilding of Ware Park House - could this list related to this rebuilding?
A fascinating and informative bundle of mid 19th century accounts books relating to a wealthy and important resident of Ware Park, Hertfordshire responsible for the rebuilding of the current house.
