The Antique Maps Shop in Hertford, owned and managed by Mark and Gill Pretlove, has a large stock of fine quality antique old maps. Specialising in English county maps, there is always a good range of vintage maps from the 1600's to the 1900's of all the English counties to choose from with a good stock of road maps, town plans, maps of countries, topographical prints, antique prints and map reference books.
The antique maps shop is situated in Parliament Square near Hertford Castle and the building is shown on John Speed's plan of Hertford on his Hertfordshire county map. Speed claims authorship to the plans that include a scale of paces and it is interesting to speculate on his thoughts had he been told that his maps would be on sale 400 years later from a shop that he drew on his Hertford plan!
